Taco Terrier

Must Try

Sebastian Acosta
Sebastian grew up on a goat farm in rural Wisconsin. He learned a lot about different animals as a youngster. While he is no longer in charge of feeding the kids, he still helps maintain the family farm on the weekends. In his free time, he travels the world and finds every opportunity to escape in nature.

The Taco Terrier is probably one of the sweetest-looking tiny dogs in the terrier family. Here are several of its distinctive characteristics:

  • Taco Terriers are a mix between the Toy Fox Terrier and the Chihuahua.
  • Tacos are also known as a Chitoxy or the Chihuahua Fox Terrier Mix.
  • Chitoxy’s live between 12 and 15 years.
  • These little pets are incredibly protective and devoted to their owners.
  • Their small size belies a colossal heart, being much braver than perhaps they should be for their stature.
  • Taco Terriers reach heights of 6 to 10 inches and weigh from 7 to 10 pounds.
  • They have a low tolerance for cold and dislike being alone for lengthy periods.
  • Coat lengths are short and black, with a low level of shedding, requiring brushing only three times a week.
  • They are sensitive to touch, so be gentle when brushing and interacting with them.
  • Luckily, the Taco Terrier is not big on barking as with many other small canines.
  • Chitoxy’s must be socialized from a young age if you want to introduce other pets into the home.
  • Also, they do better with older children.
  • These dogs adapt well to small spaces, so they are suitable for apartment living.
  • Potential health issues include heart problems, hypoglycemia, the potential for a collapsed trachea, CHG, an open fontanel, Von Willebrand’s disease, Patellar luxation, Legg-calve-Perthes.
  • What is the average cost to purchase the Taco Terrier? Puppy prices are high, ranging between $300 and $900.
  • Average medical costs can also run pretty high over a year, reaching up to $500.

If you’re a one-dog type of person, the Taco Terrier tends to bond better with one person and makes for a loving pet.

  1. Very interesting! But please correct the grammar…plurals do not use an apostrophe. More than one chitoxy is “chitoxys.” “Chitoxys must be…” etc.
