Airedoodle

Must Try

Matilda Cruz
Matilda double majored in zoology and animal behavior at the University of Hawaii. She’s been an animal lover from a young age and knew she wanted to study them even more for her career. She’s always looking for ways to spread her animal knowledge.

The Airedoodle is the United States bred designer dog that combines the Standard Poodle and Airedale Terrier. One half, the Standard Poodle, hailed from Germany and was first used as a working dog in the military. The Airedale is the largest of all the terrier breeds and has its origins in Yorkshire, England, as a hunting dog.

Airedoodles are typically intelligent dogs that are usually easy to train. Their love of human interaction gives them an affinity for quickly picking up commands from trainers. These are some of the highlights that stand out about this unique breed:

  • The Airedoodle thrives on being stimulated mentally and loves socializing.
  • They are physically strong and require a fair amount of physical activity.
  • Considered a medium breed, the average Airedoodle weighs between 40 and 60-pounds.
  • Gentle by nature, this breed does great with other animals and children.
  • The only downside of this breed is that they may resort to challenging behavior if left alone for long periods and tend to develop separation anxiety.

These playful, loyal dogs have a nice long life expectancy of anywhere from 10 to 15-years and have no significant risks for long-term health issues. Assuming owners give them the exercise they need and a moderate amount of attention, these dogs have the potential to be fantastic lifetime companions.
